Improved online editing and document (co) editing using Libre Office Online (LOOL) or Microsoft Office. Include Libre Office Online as on online document solution using TeamWorks or even GroupWise WebAccess as the back end. Much like Google Docs but, open standards, not locked in, self-hosted storing data on self controlled infrastructure.

I believe that there are companies looking for a better way to co-edit documents without relying on outsourced cloud providers. This is also from regulations perspective a unique point as data never has to leave its silo. This technology can be leveraged in a browser and the apps.

I created in the Filr Idea Portal a quite long how and why we need such a thing in place also from a copetetive perspective. We need to face the likes of Microsoft and Google are never let use integrate at an equal level compared to their own solutions. Bedisdes that it always is better to control the ecosystem ourselves as Windows-Office-Outlook has proven so far. Leveraging LibreOffice Online in the enterprise ready version of Collabora Online (COOL) assures the needed backend developent and support. Collabora is in essence the old SUSE LibreOffice team. • This comment could probably be attached to many of your other ideas Sebastiaan.

    What I'd like to see is MF launch their own "Full" equivalent to Gsuite or Office 365 - and this idea would be essential to it.

    Enterprise Messaging (awful name) is a start but to be competitive it needs to be the full product and must include Filr and Vibe and these must include collaborative document editing. They must also be integrated with each other far more deeply than they are now.

    Right now if you use Gsuite it really feels like one product. Gmail and Drive and Hangouts and Calendar are tightly integrated. The Filr and Vibe integration with Groupwise feels like an after thought right now.

    Right now there's a new GroupWise web client, and a new Filr web client being developed. Ideally these two teams would be working closely to ensure that they look and feel like they are two parts of the same product. So that IF you choose to enable integration between them they combine perfectly to provide one seamless solution.

  • Thx Matt, you clearly see the big picture:)

  • Just a quick heads up... LOOL/COOL are not slowing down; small overview of planned enhancements in upcoming versions:
    * Mobile UX improvements
    * Ability to start Sharing in the COOL UI
    * Insert images from... [in our case directly from Filr NetFolders]
    * Based on LibreOffice/Collabora Office 6 which has much improved document filters
    * UX/UI speed and visual improvements

    Have a look at a recent presentation of COOL 3.4 and upcoming 4.0 (presented on the Nextcloud Conference). Shows some nice examples of MS Offlice Online VS LOOL/COOL too.

  • Created similar IDEA for GroupWise Desktop and for the WebAccess client. This makes sure there is consitency in document creation, modification, co-editing between the desktop client, WebAccess and TeamWorks.
