I'd like to see when or if someone has accessed a file I have shared to them. For example, I make a share available to you. If you use the Filr web or mobile interface to access it, then the system could keep track. If desktop file sync’ing is setup, the only thing I probably could know is that the file was sync’ed. I want to know because I sent out required reading material and would like to see who could have possibly read it. Or rather I'd like to know who couldn't have possibly read it.
Another reason would be if someone inadvertently shared copyrighted or otherwise sensitive files. Making the sharing footprint visible would be great.

Look at https://www1.v1ideas.com/MFI/novell-filr/Idea/Detail/126 . Similar ?
Yes, it could be implemented in a similar way. I don't care about the distinction of 3rd party vs within my org. Also, I don't need notifications.
A customer has requested to receive email notifications when someone downloads a file.
It is very important auditing
Really need a way to log external user activity. We want to share the link either until they've downloaded it or until expiration of a predefined share time period. This is true of many doc share systems like Hightail. One of my staff has taken to encoding the links with bit.ly before sending so at least he knows that someone has clicked on the link and when. This needs vast improvement in Filr.
That's something our customers are waiting for. in the share dialog a tick-box "notify me when recipient accessed shared item"
Good idea - Noted!
We are planning to add the ability to be notified by email when "shared with" user accesses the file for the first time by providing a tick-box "notify me when recipient accessed shared item" in share dialog in Filr 3.4
Additional capabilities around this area will be added in future.
What will happen if I use the function "Share->Copy link". Will I get a notification if someone downloaded the file?
Thanks for all your idea and feedback!
We have got main part of this implemented and released as part of Filr 3.4 (which was released few hours back)
Feel free to put in a new idea for anything that we may have missed from this idea.
