I want to rename bundles without have to increase the bundle version.

At the moment - if you dont increase the version - the clients still show the old name in startmenu and zcm window.

  • This could be solved with minor versions. see:
    https://ideas.microfocus.com/MFI/novell-zcm/Idea/Detail/592

  • I think this would also be fine if it only applied to the Display Name.

  • Chad is right.

  • Good Idea!

  • Back in Zen4 days, you could change the name without publishing a new version.

  • You can increase the version number at ANY time withOUT reinstalling a bundle. It just updates the name, start tab, etc.

ONLY: do NOT do any changes on the INSTALL tab. Thereafter by increasing the bundle version number a reinstallation is performed.

ZCM has secondary (not visible) SubVersion numbers for Distrubution, Install, Launch, Verify, Uninstall, Terminate. A change on one of these tabs triggers the secondary version number PLUS the primary (visible) Version to Sandbox. After a bundle is published the client compares the primary version in cache (local DB) and the server version. If the primary number is different than it compares the secondary numbers and ONLY updates the actions on the specific action tab. So if someone changes something on launch tab and bundle icon or bundle name it will NOT reinstall. This can be verified if you export a bundle with "zman betf" on server.
