For schools and mybe others it would be nice and nessesary to local cache apps and ios updates on a server in the lan or wlan and other IOS devices pull it from the cache. This is possible, if you install a MAC OS X Server and activate the caching service on it. This requires an enty in the dns server and all IOS devices know about this cache and looks there for apps and updates.
This caching services is needed on Linux or Windows Server, but not supported from Apple until yet.
This is a must have function for a great planned project from the german govermnent for all schools.

With upcoming iOS 11, Apple has extended this facility to any macOS device and not just to server. Can macOS devices be used in conjunction with ZENworks for rolling out Apps?
