It would be nice to have a peer to peer functionality added to the ZENworks workstations to share Windows Updates and ZENworks bundles with devices that are located in the same LAN.
The idea is the same as the functionality in Windows 10 to distribute updates through peer to peer connections between devices.
info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/waas-optimize-windows-10-updates
This optimization would be a great combination with a ZENworks Sattelite Server.
This would eliminate the bandwith saturation + throttling wouldn't be necessary anymore.
Who
-----
Clients that utilize ZENworks satellites and use throttling to not saturate the bandwith.
Why
-----
To optimize the bandwith utilization in LAN and WAN environments, this in combination with ZENworks satellite servers. Distribute bigger bundles without having the risk to cause network load
How
-----
Flag a bundle that can be distributed by peer to peer.
The Satellite servers will sync the bundle and have it ready to share in their deployed location.
Assign distribution locations
Because the bundle is flagged with a "Peer to Peer Option" ,the wokstation devices will look for a host with this bundle, if not found, they will get it from the Satellite or Primary server.
When one of the devices had the bundle downloaded, it is ready to share it with the workstations that are in the same LAN.
