At the moment the ZCM console automatically logs the user out after a specific time. It would be great to be able to change this setting in th ZCM cosole to a timeout that we prefer. At the moment files need to be edited each time a new version is released, which is very annoying.

Are you editing the custom config file (custom-config.xml)? That shouldn't be overwritten on upgrades. It is described here: https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks11/zen11_system_admin/data/bb2knjp.html
I have edited the custom config file in practically every ZENworks implementation I have worked on and, so far as I can tell, the "feature" does not work. i have it set at 240 minutes in my home environment and every time I upgrade to the next version my timeout reverts to 30 minutes. I'd be very happy to learn I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think so.
I agree...I am missing something as well
I agree also. this feature has never worked for me. every upgrade ignores my settings in the custom-config.xml file.
Still waiting & hoping that this will be implimented...
