Kanaka provides a core set of attributes that are translated from eDirectory records. It would be nice to provide some minor faculty to optionally translate some other eDirectory attributes (whether plain or extended by the Apple LDAP schema) into the standard Apple schema format. In particular, attributes relating to group MCX settings, augmented user records, and kerberos could move some institutions away from doing LDAP mappings, improve integration with the Linux faculties of OES, and prepare for a possible user integration with Novell ZENWorks.

  • OMG this would SO HELP us keep Novell in our shop. We are currently rolling out MACs and the less helpful it is, the more helpful they consider Google Drive and other mapped sources.
