Snapshots on the file system level can help a lot with backup operations and potentially speed up recovery by a large margin. With NSS on OES snapshots are supported for local pools only, but not for shared pools with NCS. So currently two core features of NSS can not be used on the same pool. My suggestion is to make available snapshots on shared pools also. Migrating the snapshot area together with the primary pool within the cluster does not seem to be an extremely difficult thing to implement.
