iPrint printer installation will deliver and install the printer driver and profile to the workstation = TRUE
iPrint printer driver and/or profile “update” will update the printer driver and profile installed on the workstation = TRUE
Our issue and it has been an issue for many years and this is not say it has ever been a Novell issue.
With over 3,000 printers scattered over the state of NSW our Print Policy states that ALL printers must have a default policy to print Black & White and Duplex have Enabled.
This is great and that is how our iPrint Driver Policies are currently setup but the issue here is that once the end user changes the printer properties to print colour or to print single sided those settings are stuck until the end user changes it back. This issue has a heavy financial burden considering the amount of printers we currently manage. Even if the print job has a single red line in the print job, the print job is treated as colour and we are then billed for that colour print job.
So, here is my request or maybe you know of a tool out there.
iPrint currently has an iPrint Agent installed on the workstation. Is there any reason why iPrint cannot have a configuration item on the Printer Agent that can be configured that will force a scheduled printer profile update via the iPrint Agent on the workstation every couple hours or so to reset to the profile defaults?
