Who would want this? Any company that utilizes IDM Reporting and wants to report on information from multiple data sources. For example, if I utilize Identity Governance and Identity Manager.

Why it's valuable? Ease of reporting. Rather than require technical expertise to be able to manually create LDAP queries, and use Excel w/ VLOOKUP or Pivot tables to produce information, I can provide reports directly to my Risk and Audit organizations.

How would it be used? I have additional identity "metadata" in my "Vault" that I want to combine with Identity Governance reports for a final executive-level roll-up. Thus a report on Identity Governance reviews, while linking to the vault for organizational hierarchy and 10+ other attributes that I do not want to consume into IG "custom" attributes just for reporting. Custom attributes are "expensive" in IG and greatly slow down reporting.

How this differs? I have not seen a similar idea on this front.
