Same here, we would love to make entire folders available offline on the android and ios app.
Also, new versions of files should be downloaded automatically and not just when the user clicks on the file.
And by the way, the user only gets notified that a new version of the file is available, when he tries to open the original file. If he opens the file under downloads, he doesn't get notified about a never version of the file at all.
Tested on an IPhone with iOS 9.3.5 and latest version of Filr App (3.1.1.1669)
On Android (App Version 3.1.0.1100), the notification seems to work fine.
Noted both. We have this our plans. May take some more time before we start implementing this.

It should be a "must" for this app. It's a great idea to sync folders
Update: we have started investigating this
Here is the current thought on this:
- Automatically sync when the folder is opened honoring "Synchronize Downloads" setting
- Support offlining folders whose size is less than 100MB in "My Files" and "Shared with Me" to start with
