When updating the Filr servers the desktop clients installed on workstations and connected to the updated servers immediately show a message that there is an update available.
Many of our users get/got annoyed with these messages since they do not have administrative rights to install the client by themselves. They have to wait until the updated ZENworks bundle is prepared and tested.
Since the "old" client still works until the latest version is installed it would be extremely comfy and smooth to silence the "old" client, meaning making him NOT to show the update message to the user. At least a switch to turn these messages off would help.
Thank you.
Cheers,
Matthias

This would be extremely helpfull, especially while there is a bug within the 2.0 client which produces 100% CPU on all our machines ...
Also helpful in large production environment where user does not have right to install software !
Hi All,
We have delivered the capability to disable balloon notifications in Desktop Clients with Filr 3.1
Also note that by using the "Deploy files accessed via URL to another location"
as documented at https://www.novell.com/documentation/filr-3/filr-admin/data/desktopapp.html & https://www.novell.com/documentation/filr-3/filr-bp-maint/data/host-desktop-install-separately.html#host-desktop-install-separately: you can control Filr notification for Desktop Client updates.
Hope this helps you meet the requirements shared in this idea?
You can also edit the json file to set the version number back so there is not a prompt. This is in /opt/novell/filr/apache-tomcat/webapps/desktopapp/novellfilr/windows/x64
