The idea is an implementation of the FILR Webfrontend for FTP. This means:

- Users would be able to login to FILR with FTP
- They'd see folders coresponding with the FILR-Structure (MyFiles, Shared by me, Shared with me, Netfolders, Public)
- They'd be able to upload, download, move or remove files

As for external users - they'd still have to register at least once at the Webclient (as FTP to my knowledge does not support all that would be needed for it). Also Sharing would still be on Webclient-Level - even if there would be additional FTP commands, most graphical FTP clients woulld not be able to work with it.)

This may seem far-fetched, but it was actually a request of a potential customer, who's developer are working with FTP mostly.

  • Hi Ortwin,

The core proposition of Filr is to provide a uniform, secure and user friendly access to data from anywhere/anytime/anydevice.

Given that - providing access via FTP, mapped drives etc don't fit in well: we don't have any plans to do this at this point of time. We will reconsider this based on demand for this in future.
