Filr 3.3 introduced the 'Request a File' feature to customers paying for the Advanced Filr license.

This feature is only usable if personal storage is available to users. Many heritage customers do not use personal storage because they prefer to take advantage of the investment made in systems like OES.

This TID says that the 'Request a File' feature is considered being developed further for customers who use network home folders as the Filr user's My Files area.

My idea is that this consideration makes it into the next release of Filr.

Comments

  • In general, users expect a feature like this to be available in all spaces in which they have the right to create entries, so in all areas where they are "contributor" or owner, no matter if net folder or internal storage (shared with me). Of course, the creator of the file should be the requesting user, and the details of the file entry should list the email address that the file was "requested to".

  • The code to have "File Request" be made available for Home folders is under testing and is on track for shipment in next or the release after next.

We don't plan to add it to Net Folders/Share with Me/Shared by Me for time being.

  • So 3.3.3 is out! Did this feature make it in?

  • This feature isn't part of 3.3.3 John. Will be considered for next minor release.

  • Support for Home folder will is getting ready for Filr 3.4

Let know (via email) if any of you are interested to beta test Filr 3.4

  • Thanks for all your idea and inputs on this!

We have got main part of this implemented for Home folder and released as part of Filr 3.4 (which was released few hours back)

Feel free to put in a new idea for anything that we may have missed from this idea.
