File Link Sharing:
It would be nice to have the possibility to set an expire date in the first window when you get the file link (Mark file -> Share -> Copy Link -> Get File Link).
Currently it is only possible to set an expire date after you shared a file (by using "Edit Link").

Comments

  • Currently, it is necessaray to first copy a link before you can set an expiration date using the "edit link" selection.
This seems to agree with the Filr 3.3 documentation, in the Web User Access Guide, page 33 "Editing or removing a File Link", which reads:
"After a File Link has been distributed either by copying the link or by emailing it, you can modify it if you have appropriate rights. You can modify the expiration date or note associated with the link..."
Hope you can put the expiration option in the "Copy File Link" window, in order to avoid the extra step currently required.

  • Voted for this change.

the users is able to generate the file link, but then user cannot access the share... menu to change the expiration date. This is only accessible if internal/external shares is activated

  • Now that Filr 3.4 has a default share expiry of 30 days, we _really_ _really_ need this.
Adding the manual step of getting the user to edit the link afterwards adds an unnecessary and error-prone step.

  • Noted - will take care of this as we are revamping the web client. You can check this out in beta builds of 4.1
