Currently in 3.2 when you send a link from the either groupwise or the new Outlook plugin, the link requires that the destination user register with Filr. Please change to allow a non-login link to be sent, to eliminate the need for the recipient to register in Filr. Maybe have it as either a user choice or as a option, such as what occurs with the attachment size etc. The Outlook plugin was going to be rolled out to all users, but with it working the way the it does currently is it not an acceptable, as they just want to be able to send a link with no authentication required.

Noted Mark. Will wait on the interest for this and take a call on this.
Think some of my customer would like that too; downside would be you cannot track who (other then the IP address) has downloaded the file and when.
Agreed, but having the option would be good. If authentication is preferred, maybe those external users could be expired/removed automatically after x number of days/months without access?
would be perfect to have as option
Yes, very user friendly, with expiration date. It will help us to stop send big attachments!
Hi All,
Here is how were are thinking of implementing this idea for Filr's plugin for MS Outlook (not Groupwise).
- GUI option in Filr administration page, under "Office and Outlook" settings, for Filr administrator to enable/disable unauthenticated file(s) link (disabled by default)
- A GUI option in Filr administration page, under office and outlook settings, for Filr administrator to allow Filr user to override above setting
- The plug-in configuration page, under policy, in Microsoft Outlook application should display the information on if Admin has enabled unsecure/secure link
- The plug-in configuration page, under policy, in Microsoft Outlook application should provide an option for user to change the above setting if allowed by administrator
- The changes to above setting made by Filr plug-in user MUST persist across restart of Outlook application and reboot of operating system
- The change made to this configuration by Filr administrator (or Filr user) should be applicable to all file(s) shared by Filr plug-in user using Outlook application after the change is made.
- The Filr file attachment list should have a visibly distinguishable object(may be padlock) to differentiate between authenticated or unauthenticated link (Optional)
Please share your feedback on these and let know if we are missing anything!
Thanks for all your idea and inputs on this!
We have got main part of this implemented for Outlook and released as part of Filr 3.4 (which was released few hours back)
Feel free to put in a new idea for anything that we may have missed from this idea.
