Currently NetFolder sync includes all users who have ever logged(AFAIK), even if it was once to share some folders or quickly grab a file. This accumulates to a lot of users over time and wasted scanning. In a very large organisation this leads to only scheduling scans once a day or less.

Our priority for scanning NetFolders containing home directories is for users of the desktop client to detect changes so they can be synchronised to any offline folders.

We need a scheduled scan of only users who are currently using the desktop client. They should fall off the list for the scan if their desktop client has not been seen for X days. We could then run this on a more regular schedule as it would contain fewer users to scan.

Better still if the desktop client registered the folders marked "make available offline" with the Filr server(s) then it could automatically run regular scans on just those directories.

  • Hi Steven,

Would you be referring to Just In Time Sync (JITS) OR full schedule syncs?

Note that JITS is triggered only on the folder which the user is trying to browse to - not on the complete system. This is needed as the user may be looking for folder/files inside the folder and thus needs to be updated with changes.

In order to help us understand and make this part of Filr's backlog, can you share the requirement in the following format:

    As a Filr admin/user (persona)
I would like to be able to .... (what is needed)
So that ..... (how does this helps)
