When setting up the Filr desktop client, it requires a new empty directory. If you were perhaps sharing documents across a set of VM's, you may wish to attach to an existing directory rather than new.
In my case, I upgraded my Mac to El Capitan and it broke the Filr desktop client that was syncing my folders. To solve this issue while a patch was being developed, I attempted to install the client onto a Windows VM to perform the sync. The client would not let me use an existing directory, so I had to archive, create new, and then copy back my files, resulting in a large "Download version 1.0" queue.
Wouldn't it be great if you could attach to an existing directory instead of the workaround above?
