At the moment GWIA supports only DSN ( Delivered and Delivery failed)
GWIA does not request Opened status, nor does it send Opened notifications if an external smtp server requests it

Just to be perfectly clear, GroupWise should support RFC 3798. https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3798.
And here is a use case for this feature. A company use this feature to send out tasks to external partners. If they receive a mail opened notification within a specified amount of time, they interpret this as an acknowledgement that the task has been received by partner. If they don't get the "mail opened notification" they contact them on phone and ask them for the acknowledgement.
