Our users are frequently confused by how the notify system works. When they click OK on the notification dialog, they believe that the notification goes away. Because of this, some users have hundreds or thousands of notifications piled up and eventually, Notify won't run anymore. It'll crash because of too many notifications.

If an admin could send an admin message (through the admin console which would be send by an MTA down to the POA) that would clear notifications, it would help resolve these issues.

ALTERNATELY
If on startup, Notify sees a huge quantity of notifications, it could ask the user if they want them cleared.

  • Good idea! I think this goes a long with a much needed re-work of Notify, but I'm also fine with the ability for an admin do it thru the console.
