I have my e-mails organized in a ton of folders in a tree structure, but at the moment it's a big hassle to drag and drop e-mails in the right folders as I have to scroll down the right folder first and then select the e-mails to put them in that folder.

It would be great if I could filter the folders, similar to filter/search e-mails, in the top bar, so that only the one(s) that correspond(s) show(s) up, so that I can classify my mail there.

  • Perhaps a better focus would be to improve search such that a global search will find what you want wherever it is located. Just a thought here but it might be easier to find your folder items that way.

  • Until Micro Focus implement a solution, our Advansys Filing Assistant may be able to help. http://www.advansyscorp.com/products/extend/fv-solutions/filing-assistant/

  • Right click on the email(s) and choose "move to" could help

  • I'm not sure that's what the original idea was about -- I'm sure the user knows that they cam move stuff with move-to and I'm sure they could benefit from filing assistant. I believe the idea had to do with seeing a huge list of folders and wanting to filter down so they just see the ones matching the filter (like "april") for all the folders that have that string in the name.
So the user is trying to find mail.

My comment above suggested that, perhaps, an alternate approach would be to use a master global search - a really good one - that would find data no matter where it lives.

To the person who made the idea - did I understand your use case correctly?

  • Actually, the original idea is not to find mail, although an improved search to find stuff in-text with a folder selection option would be great. The original idea is really to file the mail in a folder, but indeed to be able to filter the folders without having to scroll through a huge list in order to then drag-and-drop the concerned mails to the specific folder. Thanks for the idea of filing assistant, but I see it's not compatible with GW 2014, or is it ?

  • Yes, the Filing Assistant does work with GroupWise 2014. For thorough evaluation purposes, all Formativ solutions offer a free trial mode or full functionality for a period of 30 days.

  • A little searchbox within the folder panels would be great. It would strongly improve sorting of emails.
