Make it possible to use other account in the from field if user got proxy rights for this.

Comments

  • Enhancement to the enhancement for me: if you have different Domains, let the user choose in the client, if the mail comes from maier@domain1.com or maier@domain2.com

  • Yes! Absolutly

  • 100 % of my customers ask for this

  • Also the ability to choose a distribution list as the "From" address.

  • This would be great as I am also in charge of our Admin, Webmaster, Email, and Sales accounts as well. There are times when I would like to respond to one of the Sales mails without them receiving MY actual email address. In addition to being able to select proxy, to also select an alias for those women that get married.

  • Waiting since GroupWise 6 for this feature to select a domain whend sending a mail.
It is realy annoying to create IMAP/SMTP Accounts in users GroupWise Client to handle this.

  • In GroupWise 2014 this is already possible to change the From User to a proxy account without the need to proxy to the whole mailbox.

  • Being able to restrict this feature for specific users.

  • To clarify a note. To be able to reply from address which are specified in "Internet Addressing"

  • In addition, on a reply it would be nice if the default from address would be the address that the message was originally sent to. So, if I get a message to info@company.com, and that's a nickname I have, when I reply the default would not be my real address, but instead info, etc.

  • Our customer asked for this as 'Sender alias'. The feature is there in their current mailing system and losing this is the biggest pain in migrating to GroupWise. They need role-based addresses for communicating to their parties (hr@test.com, it@test.com, contract@test.com...) with multiple sender and more read-only users behind each address. Today, they need mailboxes generated, many additional GW licenses to buy and administration overhead for these. While they only need to select addresses in a "From" field in GW client and WebAccess for e-mails which addresses are given permissions, without the need of a mailbox for it.

  • That would be so great to have!!!
To be able to reply from addresses which are allowed in "Internet Addressing", so including other domains, nicknames, etc.

  • In addition, change the Profile/Color or a noticeable remark, that the user is sending from another Domain/User would be helpful.

  • Not sure if I misunderstood the original proponent (Philip D.), but I as I have proxy rights for several other mailboxes, I can just click on "From:" in the header of an eMail I'm currently composing. (there's a little downwards arrow next to "From:") and chose another mailbox for which I have proxy rights.

  • It's not the problem with proxy-rights. We have this problem here at our company. With different company-names some employees have been responsible for different companies. So if the user has to sent mails as employee for each company, I have to set different accounts. It would be nice, if it is possible to switch between all possible addresses.

  • And it even must not be responsibilities for different companies.

It could be different brands, products or distribution channels, too.

Like product-a.com and product-b.com and so on.

At our company we are thinking to switch from groupwise to another solution.

  • same situation: same individual, different email addresses. hope this feature can be added.

  • Another vote for being able to change the "from:" field to any valid email address the user has, just like gmail does it. As mentioned by another poster, the default "from:" address should the the address the email was sent to, which is sensible for role based addresses such as sales@.

  • Any email - nicname and proxy.

  • Great idea !!!

  • This has been possible in GroupWise since version 2014! I select the account I want to send from by merely clicking on the From drop-down and select one of my proxy accounts.

  • Not true Cobus, only for proxy, but not for nickname/group/etc, which is more important.

  • this is already working. you can choose the proxy account you want to send from either from the proxy list or entered by hand. nicknames can also be chosen. unfortunately you cannot select the nicknames from a list, you have to know them and have to enter them by hand. even proxy nicknames are working and so are groups. so i dont really see the purpose for this request.

  • Purpose of this request is that customer has same functionality as from M$, that´s why. You need to be in functionality on the top, not years behind ...

  • I cannot see why this is an issue as it is working, including for nicknames, as per Norman D.'s comment. Also, once the address is on your Frequent Contacts you merely need to pick it from the list.

  • Lets ignore Proxy for the moment, I think everyone knows that this works.

The problem with nicknames is the resultant FROM field using the GW Client (it always translates it to the primary of the sending mailbox):

    Message-Id: <5B5B9E990200001300027EB3@domain.com>
X-Mailer: Novell GroupWise Internet Agent 14.2.3
    Date: Sat, 28 Jul 2018 08:37:13 +1000
    From: <originator@domain.com>

If you use IMAPS client, then it works as expected:

    Message-ID: <1d3259b5-f1f0-c048-fff1-946e2dd2ebd9@domain.com>
    User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/52.9.1
    Date: Sat, 28 Jul 2018 08:40:30 +1000
    From: nickname@domain.com

  • you‘re right. the mime file received in gw client (also 18.0.1) shows the originators email address rather then nickname in the from field. but the client itself shows the nickname in the from field.

  • I have just started having a problem when using "from other email." It happens when I am proxied into my boss' calendar. I send an e-mail very carefully selecting myself from the dropdown, but it is showing as from me and created by her in the properties, and it is showing in her sent items and not mine. This just started happening to me. Help!

  • Importance of this request is that customers have same functionality as from M$, please finally help us with this. Many thanks!

  • I use many nicknames. When I send a new email I would like to specify the nickname the email is coming "From". When I reply to an email sent to one of my nicknames, I would like the "From" to default to that nickname.

  • We see the same requirement: Groupwise system is available by more than 1 internet domain, but a single user can only sent mails from the system's default internet domain or the one that is configured for that user. But some of the users must have the ability to sent emails from more than 1 internet domain and have to choose the right domain on a per mail basis.

  • This is really one of the most painful and pointless limitations groupwise has for ever since it exists. *This* is something product management should look at and enhance GW with, instead of forcing UI chnages nobody wants on users without the ability to change them back.

  • Yes, yes and again yes. Signature templates, welcome mail and this one should be added now, not such features as QV Smart Sizing, which is number one on "Disable it ASAP" list.

  • Over a Year and still not news. Wake up Micro Focus (I ask that "feature" when they were Novell!!!!).
