Restore one mail, calendar...etc more easy than now.

  • GWAVA Reload is the solution!

  • But we don't want to buy a GWAVA product (not in fact that is expensive or anything else), a little more easier way in setting that up, if the restore-area is on a complete different server!

  • I Agree whole heartedly that GWAVA Reload is the solution and has saved a lot of customers a lot of heartache, but by just using the DBCOPY scripts that come with Groupwise this can easily be done manually.

  • If you have the storage you can run Reload on the POA server and then there's no need for complicated setup !

  • Reload on the POA Server is Reload without Deasaster Recovery

  • @Michael: No, as long as you have it on a seperate storage. It's just a little more work to get POA up and running without Reload !

  • GWAVA Reload is probably a great program, but it needs Linux to work. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to Linux so I perfer a simple restore solution that runs on my Windows Server (or desktop). Using GW restore area I once restored a complete mailbox. It took some time but was fairly easy. I would like the same function when it comes to restoring a single mail.

  • This suggest also needs the ability to restore an individual Users Address book.

  • We need archive solution. On the market we are fighting with Zimbra and we need archiving because customers are asking about it

  • We use Reload and Retain and they are great products but it would be nice for an all in one solution. I don't see it happening though.

  • Really! An important reason that I could not always upgrade our GroupWise Server is there are too many 3rd party solutions around the GroupWise. We must test them again even buy a new release and then upgrade the server after a lot of effort. If the 3rd party solution could not fulfill recent GroupWise, we will give up the upgrade. If GroupWise has self archiving and backup solution. It will grealty encourage us to upgrade the server to the latest version.

  • Why depend on 3rd party for recover a single email, calendard or contact ? Could GW put that directly in the product.

  • I guess the fact that MF have purchased GWAVA is going to help a solution to this....

  • I contacted them and its a wait and see effort, i asked if this would make integration for the next version and response was "To be confirmed, but stay tuned."

  • We use commvault, they used to have an agent to backup GW but dropped it due to lack of interest or development. I have seen Commvault's Exchange agent and I like that you can restore individual emails, contacts, calender items from the same console I use to restore files and databases with for the entire system. I would like to see Microfocus make a bigger effort to work with the top backup providers to provide plugin agents to make this possible. I can easily see how commvault agent could maybe be configured as a "trusted app" so backup and restore is possible without having to setup *another* server/solution for backup.

  • With the Acquisition of GWAVA, Retain & Reload are going to be the solutions going forward. Look for tighter integrations in the future. Also look for their own Ideas portals in the near future.
