Groupwise actually supports

UserName.Post Office@Internet domain name
UserName@Internet domain name
Last Name.First Name@Internet domain name
First Name.Last Name@Internet domain name
First Initial Last Name@Internet domain name

as possible default address formats.

I miss here at least

Lastname@internet domain name
Lastname First initial First Name@internet domain name

especially for smaller environments.

most helpful would be the usage of variables, f.e:

%FIRSTNAME%.%LASTNAME%-%DEPARTMENT%@internet domain name

results in:

Jack.Bauer-CTU@domain.com

(just an example :-)

Comments

  • Why don't let the admin choose a custom internet addressing format by the ability of using variables like "FISTNAME" etc.

  • Or even better IMO would be to mimic functionality that the recipient policies in earlier versions of Exchange used. For example, %s for the last name, %g for the given name, %1g uses the first letter of the first name, and so on.
