Groupwise actually supports
UserName.Post Office@Internet domain name
UserName@Internet domain name
Last Name.First Name@Internet domain name
First Name.Last Name@Internet domain name
First Initial Last Name@Internet domain name
as possible default address formats.
I miss here at least
Lastname@internet domain name
Lastname First initial First Name@internet domain name
especially for smaller environments.
most helpful would be the usage of variables, f.e:
%FIRSTNAME%.%LASTNAME%-%DEPARTMENT%@internet domain name
results in:
Jack.Bauer-CTU@domain.com
(just an example :-)

Why don't let the admin choose a custom internet addressing format by the ability of using variables like "FISTNAME" etc.
Or even better IMO would be to mimic functionality that the recipient policies in earlier versions of Exchange used. For example, %s for the last name, %g for the given name, %1g uses the first letter of the first name, and so on.
