mta message tracker status "pending"

For messages coming from the internet, the tracking on the MTA is done on message ID, filename or originator. Now a message comes in and goes from GWIA to MTA to the POA however no status messages are coming back over the MTA like with internal GW messages. Therefor the MTA will not be able to relate any other status then PENDING to the message. Forever. When you do the same with a message from PO1 to PO2 the MTA does show full status of the message.
This is confusing and migth justify a request for enhancement to change the term PENDING to something else in case this is an internet email.
