Search box on webmail makes you click the button and type at the same time. If you click it and then try to type, the search bar goes away.

Having the same problem and it is very frustrating. I did find a work-around. Use the "Find" button with magnify glass and +, found on the light gray menu bar. That does work for searches. But, yes, please fix the webmail search box in Chrome.
