The concern is that once the user opens an attachment and closes out of the email, the attachment tends to remain on the local PC. This is an issue for users whom don't have a specific PC and tend to move between PCs (nursing stations) to check their email. Sometimes the attachments are sensitive and remains on the PC which can be viewed by others.

There should be an option on the admin console to change the client settings for all users to point to their home/network directory drive. Or not have the attachments save at to a PC.

  • It's not in the scope of each and every application to repair someones broken local account security design in Windows. It is a matter of fact that you have to save mail attachments locally in temp to be able to display them properly, almost every software works that way. If other users can see other users files in their respective temp directories, your windows account security is broken.

Additionally, in security sensible environments, it's a good measure to delete the temp directories at logout or reboot.
