Again this appliance is created with SuseStudio and wil NOT work with Citrix Xen server!!

Make the SuseStudio appliances work with Citrix Xen server.!!

  • Astonishing that the don't make it available for other hypervisors. So maybe VMware is the most popular but Micro Focus sell SLES with XEN as their own virtualisation product.

  • These are created in the OVF aka Open Virtualization format, which with limited work can be converted to most any other virtualization format including xenserver. In that case, use xenconvert. For Suse xen, KVM or any other xensource based simply use the virt-convert utility from virt-manager.

On that note, I do agree it would be nice for MF to pre convert these for us, or at least provide official documentation on how to do this.

Maybe someone will submit an article on Novell's coolsolutions if it's not there already.

  • I agree it's easy to convert them but is it supported? If I need to log an SR because it's not working properly will MF support me if I'm running it on XEN

  • I'm waiting for an official statement from PM on this. I'm hoping it's a best effort support and not a full refusal, though MF is USUALLY fairly flexible on colouring outside the lines. I don't work for them so don't quote me on that though, just been my experience with Novell etc for 20 years.
Xen support is on their roadmap, but how soon depends on how much feedback and demand they see for it.

  • We need this, too!
MF/Novell started with the Filr Appliance very well and they said, that this commom appliance format will be the future standard format for new applicances and existing formats will be converted/extended to the new format as well.

  • We need it because otherwise we cannot buy / deploy Enterprise Messaging with Teamworks..
