During a trip to a Kaspersky conference, I asked about native support for groupwise. The development person I spoke with looked puzzled that i would suggest such a thing. I replied "It's just a port that needs to be monitored" to which he replied "your right". Let's push Micro Focus to request native support from Kaspersky for our favorite desktop client.

  • You mean on port 1677? Afaik that traffic is encrypted, so I would think this needs a (new) client API exposed so scanners can talk to that.

Since MF now owns GWAVA I think their plan is to integrate more with that. Maybe even GWAVA needs an API at the client side. Maybe that can be made accessible for 3th parties at the same time. But I wouldn't hold my breath for such a thing anytime soon. Would be good if MF would talk more about their plans in this area.

  • We have integrated Secure Messaging Gateway and GroupWise 18.x and later. The Secure Messaging Gateway can scan mail, inbound and outbound, across MTA, POA and GMS and Webaccess and at the POA.
