We want to prevent user from creating company contacts in their personal address books. On mobile devices this presents a problem for people who use SMS messaging. All SMS messages that come from an internal company employee, only show the phone number as the sender, and not the person. I suspect this is because of two things. 1) The GAL can't be searched by phone number from a mobile device. 2) The SMS app does not understand how to search the GAL.
As an option we would like to be able to sync the entire GAL to the phone as a unique address book. This way, we provide the contacts locally to the phone, enabling the SMS app to locate contacts. This would also provide the option to dial by name using voice commands.
