Problem description: Create a distribution group. Open group in DRA (32-bit fat client, ASP web console, or REST console) and change group type from distribution to security. Even though the group is now a security group in AD, you cannot use the group to assign permissions in the Outlook client (the group has to be updated by Exchange first).
Workaround: Run the Exchange Set-DistributionGroup cmdlet with the group's sAMAccountName attribute as a parameter. After running the Exchange cmdlet to update the group, the group can then be used to assign permissions in Outlook.
Enhancement: Enhance DRA so it updates the group using Exchange when changing a group's type from distribution to security so that the workaround is not needed.

Bill,
Can you please provide some additional information pertaining to this request? DRA currently supports the ability to change a mail-enabled DL and switching to Security Group.
