Most companies have different types of "User" objects. For example, admin accounts, service accounts, secondary accounts etc, etc.

It would be helpful to allow an administrator to create a "custom" object type by specifying and attribute or attributes that define the object type.

NetIQ has effectively done this with resource accounts, it would be nice for admins to define their own custom object types and tie forms to those object types.

  • Rich,
Thank you for the suggestion regarding custom object types. Just to clarify, would you like these custom object types to provide objet specific tasks within the Web Console?

  • Hi Jeff, yes that would be correct. In the legacy ASP web console we did this by reading object attributes into hidden fields on the form and updating the page to accommodate the object type (example: First name is not meaningful for what we call a "resource" account).

  • Rich,
Thank you for the details and clarity. We are exploring where we can fit this great idea into an upcoming release.
