Right now you can manually export the database backup and then download it to your local machine.
In the future, it is desirable that the database would automatically be exported and the backup moved to a network location (NFS/SMB share, SFTP, SSH, etc.). The feature would allow the administrator to define where to store the backup, how often to perform the backup (every day), what time to backup (midnight), and how many backups to keep.
